We attack in the 52 with our angle of DL and then bringing our SS off the edge and man-up the DB's and 1 LB. This is great out of Pro and Con or any other set you can draw up.
TigerOne, You are correct and we have had some problems with defeating the zone. We have played what we call "Anchor" which is just base defense. We do not angle or stunt out of it. However, you must have LB's that are willing to step up and take on blockers and backs. We are usually running Cov. 3 for run support from our FS and SS.
TigerOne, Any suggestions on how to play vs. the zone? Please don't say run a 4-3, that is the usual response I get. I have been looking at 44 package, however I am not too knowledgable on the system. I have having a hard time putting the SOLB on TE and the SDE on the outside of the TE. When I was in highschool we ran a defense we called Field that was just the opposite of the afore mentioned. OLB on the outside and the SDE on the inside or head up on the TE. If you have any info. on the 44 I would love to hear it.
