Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
I'm an assistant coach at a school I used to be the head coach at (weird circumstances, and a very bizzare story). Anyway, good relationship with the new head coach, and the rest of the staff. Really, never an akward moment. After I got back into it, it was like I never left, only a different role in what we are trying to accomplish as a program. So, no problem there.
Within the last week, our head coach resigned. 2 weeks before we get going. I would like the head job back, and have let our AD know. Most of the people who wanted me gone have either left the community or have been fired themselves. I have been helping run our summer program, and all the things that go with that. (Our head coach, whom I really respect, lacked a lot of the organizational skills that was needed for the job, so, in order for the program to keep moving, I helped/took over a lot of that)
At this point, nobody has been named the head guy. Yes, I'd like the job. But, in the meantime, exactly how much of the head coaching duties should I assume, until the school board names a new head coach?
Is it something where I should just take over and keep things going and show them in late July - I'm the guy. OR, sit back and let happen whatever happens, and point out mistakes later?
First inclination would be to say,"just keep up the good job you have been doing" and keep it rolling. On the other hand, getting the team ready to play, all the administrtive duties of the HC, and just all the responsibilities in general certainly deserve the financial rewards of the HC as well. As it is now late July, certainly hope things worked out to your liking. Just hate to see a man do all the work and then not get paid properly.

Yes, I got the job. The new leadership at the school said if we have a successful season, he sees no reason why this won't be a permanent thing. And, by successful he doesn't mean wins and losses, he means were the kids treated well and with respect, did they learn football, did they get better as the season went along. He mentioned you can't win without the athletes, etc...
Thanks for asking, but wow, there's a ton of stuff to get done and we start conditioning tonight, and practice next monday. Much to do!!!!
Very Happy for you coach!!! Sounds like you have a good man to work for also. Yes, it takes alot to get it all underway, but I know your equal to the task. Be all YOU you can be for the sake of the KIDS. HOPE YOU HAVE A SUCCESSFUL SEASON.

Week 1 is in the books. Not a bad 1st week. However, apparently someone forgot to tell the old HC about purchase orders and getting equipment checked back in, etc. Biggest headache so far is broken equipment and lack of supplies that are basically just needed. Oh, well, we're still working hard, and the kids are too. Very hard. At this point, I think they don't really care what's broken, just that they have a coach. More later......
Glad to hear your getting after it! PO's, broken everything from pad straps to cracked helmets, etc. take time to deal with, don't they? I was always lucky enough to have a good refurbisher who sent a rep around to make sure that we got repaired what we needed to, at the end of each season. Bought several equipment repair kits from Schutte, Bike, etc. with my own funds and always had a kid who loved to be around the team, to do nothing but learn how to do all the repairs in short order on game night. Each Monday, he would go over the repairs and make sure they held up, etc. As some repairs are always just "quick fix" types, he kept himself busy making certain we were ready to go again Friday night! I know it makes you feel good to have the kids glad to have you! Don't look at the pile, just keep choppin'.
