Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Run the option, that is the express purpose of option football. It was designed to accomodate a small line that could not compete with bigger "D's" by incorporating the double team at the point of attack, whereby a smaller guy didn't have to take on a bigger man single handed.

Option is certainly a very good way to compete. The option allows you to leave one man unblocked and to outnumber the defenders on the second level.
You can also run a lot of angle and trap type schemes. Inside trap, counter trap, and G trap are all good schemes because it allows for combo blocks and excellent angles / leverage on larger defenders. Just be certain your linemen have great fundamentals and you can still be successful. Also, coach aggressiveness and confidence. If the kids are out-sized...that is one thing. If they are not aggressive or confident, then you have much bigger problems.
As it is almost time, what did you decide to go with offensively? I don't think I ever asked you, but what did you implement in the Spring? I know you said you used to run the option out of the "I", right? Stick with it, coach, it is a great offense. Why were you looking to change, if it's not rude of me to ask?

My team is as outnumbered and outmanned as anyone. We have 23 players. Nine of these players are offensive linemen. Seven of these linemen are freshmen and sophomores. We have two seniors on our football team.
Answer to your question-- RUN THE OPTION!!! We run the option so we don't have to block defensive tackles (Midline), defensive ends (Inside/Outside Veer) and because of the misdirection involved. I hope I answered your question.

Coach--we are in the same boat as you. Last year we had 25 kids 2 sophs and 8 linemen with the biggest being 205. We did not do very well because we were vastly outsized. This year we plan on going to a power I option with the idea of down blocking across the line and put pressure on the outside with double teams and creating 1 on 1 situations. Our RBs can win most 1 on 1 battles but out oline has a hard time even winning 2 on 1 battles. Frustrating. Good luck
