wheel read?

Do any of you run the wheel read where the guy running the wheel will break his route off on an out if he sees at a certain point that he isn't going to beat the safety deep? How do you teach this route and what is the complimentary route? Right now we are running a curl but reading the next safety. If he crosses our face then we break the post if he is deep then we settle up inside the flat player. Is there a better complimentry route or better way to teach this? Should the stem on the curl be straight ahead or should he be aiming in some to try to pull the deep third guy with him? I'd like to hear what you do for both routes and how you teach them.
