We are mainly a 4 wide and trips team...run the inside veer, midline, freeze and load options. Will be facing a team that likes to bring OLB'ers off both edges..covering with safeties over the top. Will be looking at checking to all hitch routes since there always is at least one cover defender playing 8 yds off. Any input on option game? Thanks...pdow
pdow27 I have also run trips and what we call "Quads" on may occasions. I find that the hitch works well for a small period of time until the defence adjusts with tighter coverage. Then the hitch becomes a very risky 6 point pick route. What I've had alot of success with this season goes as follows..We run the hitch until we see tighter coverage..then we have the tight end do a release on the opposite side of the trips or quads and roll to the flats. If their halfback and/or LB play blitz, then that leaves the halfback or outside LB to play man on your tight end in the flats. Your lone back moves forward to the same side as the TE and picks up the blitz. You then hit the TE in the flats at about 7-10 yards. I've gained a ton of yardage with this and it keeps the Linebackers honest. Hope this helps.
