Anyone familiar with De La Salle's technique?

Coach, thanks for your input. This team exclusively runs a split back veer.

I just got done watching some cut ups of them hitting the sled.

Here is what I saw..........

When they come out of their stance, they shoot their arms back (throw grass), take two tiny steps, and squat down extremely low (one of their knees is just off the ground!), then they rip their arms through and hit the lower portion of the bag with the backs of their hands, then continue to extend their hips while lifting the bag with their hands until the hands rotate to a palm up postion and the bag is fully extended.

The whole time, their backs are almost straight up, but they are extremely low on contact.


I've always been taught to keep a flat back and fire off the LOS low. I guess there is more than one way to do it. I'd like to learn more about this technique. It seems more fundamentally sound to me.

This technique could be an off-shoot from wrestling techniques.

Example: Double-Leg Takedown Penetration Step - You can penetrate by stepping either between you opponent's legs or to the outside of them. If stepping between them , step your left foot at least as deep as both of his feet and move your head just to the outside of his left hip. Your shoulders should always be over your lead knee as you shoot in. For futher penatration, keep driving into your opponent and go down to your left knee, stepping your right foot up to the outside of his left foot. Ideally, you will lift him or finish right away.
