Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Three backs in a T. Tight end to one side, split to the other. Lots of faking and sequence dives (A gap front side back, C gap middle back - with a G block - and option track by far back). It has a split back look with a middle tailback. Key the best back and cross key for OLB's?
Flow to - attack
Flow away - eyes to far back before flowing, looking for cutback.
We usually run a pro 4-3 set (Sam on the LOS over TE to control down blocks, slow release) with active safeties. We'll probably invert a safety, or possibly exchange out for a LB.
Sorry coach, I took your original post to mean all three backs in an "I" when you mean a "full house" alignment. Yes, thats the old split T alright. Your flow and flow away is sound. Make certain to emphasize the need for total discipline on the backside when flow is away! On your change outs, I like the insertion of the LB if they are running it, the inverted safety if they start throwing it. Make certain assignments are straight for defending the option! Your keying of best back and cross keying is sound. Really stress LB's not losing sight of the ball as Split T was great for running the belly(send one back through one hole and the ball through another after a good fake) Remind your secondary not to get in a relaxed mode because they have run it 15 plays straight! Good luck!
