Death in family

Coach, I have been there. Lost a player Friday Afternoon of our first game that eve. Our decision was the program is the staff's and the team is the captain's team. Talk to the player and your captains. You should respect any request the player in question has. Then go top the captains and have them help you decide. There is no finer time to relate the message that nothing, especially life, should be taken for granted. Respect and empathy are the keys to this day. Good Luck

In addition, we sent out a a nice little announcement about the passing of one of our extended football family. This annouhncement did more for our program than could ever be imagined. Of course I cleared it with the player first.
