This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
I am a high school player and this question has been on my mind for the longest time and i just wanted to know is it a good idea to buy my own pair of pads to train in during the duration of the year and the summer until i play next year?
Although I admire your eagerness to improve, I would suggest only playing football during the season and during spring ball. There are a couple of ways to get better during the offseason:
1)Play winter and spring sports to increase overall athleticism and motor skill development. You can still train for football in the weightroom during this time.
2)If you choose to go the sport specific route and play football only, use the offseason to get stronger and faster. Go to the strength & conditioning forums on this site for information on that.
The problem with playing the same sport throughout the year, especially football, is the wear and tear that is placed on your body. It is better, in my opinion, to lay off the sport specific drills, etc. until the preseason or close to it. This includes agility drills, etc. I would still perform general sprinting drills working mainly on acceleration in conjunction with a sound strength training program.
