Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
ive been studying this type of play for some time. I am curious how much you feel its effective when the defense overloads the box. Is this a primarily a 6 man box play? or is this applicable throughout the entire offense? i wonder if its worth hanging your hat on, unless you pair this play with a pass check off, or other audibles?, i know every play can have bad scenarios, but i just dont like the defense being able to dictate what we do, so if theres any particular checks that you go, thats the type of thing i'd like to talk about........
I run the speed option out of an empty look, motion receiver to become the pitch and have enjoyed some success to this point. We read it just like we read an OSV, so don't know why you couldn't get it done with the triple from a gun look. Be interested in how your blocking it and the actual mechanics of what your doing. I read the backside end just like we read an OSV BSE. If he plays hard, pitch it. If he plays soft, cut it up or give it. If he goes to pitch, cut it up. How do you read it, Coach?

I meant to send you some info as to how we run the Gun triple, but the season started and you know how that goes. I'd love to be able to discuss this with you at some point. Another team in state that is running the Gun triple and accompanying plays with suddess is Leavitt High School. I had the opportunity to speak with coach Hathaway a little after our exhibition game in August. I'll try to drop you a line this week.

JC - Our QB reads the backside jersey number of the end man on the LOS or the defender aligned on the backside tackle. We are looking for the heel line player to come down off the back heels of the tackle for the pull read and for him to slow play or work up the field for the give read. Coach CAmpbell
