Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Coach, we had a tough time in the beginning. I had to dismiss 4 of my starters (3 allstars), due to lack of effort and discilpline violations. We went from a contender to a team playing 9th and 10th graders trying to survive. Funny thing happened. We began to play 48 minutes of football and bonded as a team. Sometimes not very good football, but the kids are having fun. We will probably end up with 3 wins this year, but the rules and policies are set. We will lose 6 games due to the dismissal of the players after starting out 3 and 1. The team is feeling good with our decision. We had to go from the I formation to the pure wishbone. The Kiss principle is in effect big time. Your advice the last 2 years has worked well and will pay dividends next year. We have 46 retuning players. Sometimes losing is the right thing to do to keep the integrity of the game and the program. Thanks
Sounds like you are doing the right things. Bonding as a team and having fun is what it is all about. The wins will come. We started off strong (2 wins) then the wheels came off. We lost a close one this week and the kids we happy because they felt they played good football. Sometimes you need to lose before you can really win. I think that wins are so much sweeter when the kids are deserving. Dismissing those kids may pay off as the best thing you did for the program. Stick to your guns.
