Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
What Counters are you Flexbone guys runing off of a Veer look? We run a play similar to "Counter Iso" but with a pass set backside (really like Wing T Sally). It has been fairly successful but this year teams are either sitting the backside LB or simply blowing up our OG/OT and trashing the play.
We would love another Counter; We have tried Counter Option with the QB Meshing one way, then reverse pivoting and coming back the other way; the QB gets hit before he can pitch by the DE who is in his face immediately. This either forces a bad pitch or a Tackle for loss. I know he should Hot pitch but it's just not there.
We run Inside and Outside Veer out of Flexbone and would love a few more ideas for Counters...Thanks!
Are you Trapping the end on counter option? Pull your veer side guard and have the FB replace him. The guard would either seal or log the de the Qb should have a seam to run through under our outside end. Playside tackle would combo dt to Most Dangerous backer. In addition, you could run the same action as your counter Iso except the playside slot would stay in pitch relationship and (1)have your FB run load path on the DE the backside and pull both guard and tackle with the backside slot following themn off tackle or (2) have your fb replace a pulling guard and have the slot follow a single trapper. also a QB counter with a inside trap is deadly.
We run veer action rt and trap the lt Dt with our rt G. Tackles release to backers and trap side guard doubles nose or goes to 2nd level. Simple and deadly.
We run FB trap, HB counter, counter option, reverse, fake reverse.
We throw backside slant, backside post, and we drag either the HB or WR to the backside (depending on formation). We run them all off of play action.
We also run the midline with the PSHB in motion (with the QB action the BSHB can still get into a pitch relationship). As a change-up, we sometimes run our zone-dive with the PSHB in motion.
This gives us up to 10 ways to slow down the defensive pursuit.
