Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
I am looking for suggestions on some 3-Step ideas. We are a true triple option team and run flexbone (Double split/Double Wing). I'm looking for some simple routes/protection schemes to compliment our option attack. Any advice would be appreciated.
Streaks, fades (QB delivers ball when DB comes abreast and turns out hips, or never later than when receiver is more than 20 yds. down field) (deep stretch)
Although it is a 3 step drop, one of my most effective patterns when I ran the triple was as follows: We call it TRIPLE OPTION PASS 1. QB fakes ISV give to FB who drives straight ahead and squats at 7-9 yds, just in front of safety. QB continues his path until he is directly behind PST. He then takes quick 3 step drop and reads from top to bottom; 1. WR's run deep go's. 2. TE runs drag, as soon as he clears will backer he is open. 3. The Squatting FB, for some reason is always forgotten 99% of the time when the FS discovers he does not have the ball. Although he is the 3rd read in the progression, he is almost ALWAYS OPEN. Get him the football! If he has been taken away, the RB swings to the playside to become the safety valve. Give it a try, I think you will like after a few reps for timing is perfected.
