Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Coaches, We are running empty for the first time this year and run it about 40% of the time, the rest of the time we are in the single wing. We stuggled in the red zone last night with the empty. Do any of you have any ideas or concepts that you find effective in the red zone. We are in shotgun 8 yards deep so its hard for us to hit quick fades. Thanks in advance.
Coach, I have run the empty for years before it got popular like it is today, with lots of good results! But, one thing I think that will help you is this thought; WHEN YOU GET IN THE REDZONE, YOU HAD BETTER HAVE A CRUNCHJING RUNNING GAME TO GO WITH YOUR PASSING ATTACK! THE REASON? THOSE PASSING LANES REALLY SHRINK DOWN CLOSE AND IF YOU CAN'T RUN THE BALL YOUR IN TROUBLE!!! I break the red zone down into 3 parts: Red Zone= 20 to 15 yellow= 15 to 10 green= from 10 yd. line to endzone. When we get to the green zone, I have a special unit called simply "the Power Team" and it consists of the biggest, strongest, quickest, and TOUGHEST men on the team! We line up in a variety of power formations and run it right straight at them! (Iso's, power through the c gap, dives, and counters.) I will run a play called 30 dive-Y pop where we fake the dive, raise up and hit the Y who has just arc released and runs an arrow to the back of the endzone after sucking them in close with the power stuff. As always, just a suggestion in hopes of helping.

Airman, How did your season turn out, what was your record? Did the big splits work for you or no? Knowing that your a Georgia Southern disciple, what do you think of Germaine Austin? I had the privilege of working with him in Darrien, Ga. on an informal basis. He is a great kid and has had an outstanding season, hasn't he?

We are 8 yards because we run a trips to one side and a flex to the other. We do not have any receivers within 5 yards of our tackles so we know who is playing pass and who is rushing and blitzing. At 8 yards we have only given up 5 sacks because the pass rush takes so long to get there. Thanks for your help guys.
Well that sure is a plus for the next two years! Good for you! Have a good off season and keep them motivated, the next one is just around the corner, as you well know.
