Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
In any of the traditional One Back sets (2 TE/2 WR/1 RB) - both 3x1 OR 2x2 aligns (i.e. "Trips" & "Double") - there are advantages & disadvantages to going to 3 TE's. Of course, the most obvious advantage is that you gain an extra power blocker - while the most obvious disadvantage is that you no longer can "spread the field" HORIZONTALLY by align. We use the following personnel packages (not always in the same game, & perhaps not always in the same season - but our offense can easily be ADAPTED to these:
"BASE" = 2 TE — 2 WR — 1 RB
"POSSE" = 1 TE — 3 WR — 1 RB
"LIGHT" = 0 TE — 4 WR — 1 RB
"JUMBO" = 3 TE — 1 WR — 1 RB
"HEAVY" = 4 TE — 0 WR — 1 RB
From these - we use the very STANDARD One Back plays (Inside Zone; Outside Zone; Counter; Play Action; 3 step drops; 5 step drops; screens & draws). Nothing different or unusual!
