Many coaches use many different erms for the way they explain their line calls but, because so many of you have read my manuals and for the purpose of this forum I thought I would explain to those who have not the way I do this for additional and future conversations.
Ace Combo is a combination block between a guard and center The ace call can be alerted by either player when working together. I alert Ace Ram when the center works with the right guard and Ace Lion when the center works with the left guard. Whenever a tackle and guard work together its known as a Duece combination and when the Tight End and Tackle work together its known as a Trey Combo.
Remember, a combo isn't necessarily a double team its a combination block that requires two adjacent linemen to track a down defender to a second level linebacker.
Eight different zone combos for the most part exist and it will be my goal to explain all eight and why each combo is used. Coach CAmpbell
Long time no talk to. Season is over here - had a long one, but the foundation is built. Hope all is well with you. Go ahead and expand on the 8 combo's if you don't mind - I would like to see what you're referring to. Take care.
