Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Congratulations on a great season. FYI, we ran the "crazy option" with great success this year. Blocked it just like inside veer and read EMLOS...very productive much of the time. Combining our option game with our other gun runs and our passing game, we averaged 415 yards per game...mainly thru our QB ISO, Counters and option schemes. Hope all is well and that your off-season proves to be a good one. pdow

Pdow - good to hear from you and yes I was very proud of our football team for being able to except our schedule challenge. We return many players off this team for next year. Hope to be able to visit with you in the near future. Coach CAmpbell
pdow27 (or anyone else): It seems like I remember someone mentioning running crazy option & pulling the backside guard. Am I crazy...or is this a legitimate way to block it ?
I didn't pull my guards (honestly, my guards were too slow to do much pulling)...we just blocked the play like inside veer and shoveled when faced with a give read.
In watching the Utah game yesterday, they pulled the backside guard and kicked the EMLOS with him. QB might be reading frontside LB'er to determine shovel/keep read. Commentators suggested the guard blocked the wrong guy but what the heck do they know, right? pdow

With the shovel tied in with the speed option and pulling the backside guard, the guard will look to turn up sealing the playside guard or first opposite colored jersey that shows. B reads EMLOS. Coach CAmpbell
The G did block the wrong guy more than likely. It took me a whiel to figure it out but with Utah the pulling guard often comes underneath the EMOL and leads for the shovel back. You see thsi in a number of other option schemes also. I beleive if the EMOL sits to long then he may get blocked by the G but it is not how they would liek to block from what I can tell.
I think you are right. They pull the BG and lead him thru to second-level and read off EMLOS. You can also run this without a pull by running it to the tighter DT and let your PT inside veer release to second-level...ace combo to the backside w/ PG and C.
