We just finished our season a week ago and our lack of offensive production really cost us this year. We play in the most competitive district in an area that has produced the likes of Mike Vick, Ronald Curry and Aaron Brooks. There's rarely an easy game on the schedule for us. The past two years we've had a running back who rushed for at least 1200 in our power I offense. I must honestly say allot of that was from god given ability of our running back. He wasn't eligible to play at our school this year because of his grades, so he transferred to a school in another district(so far 1700 yards and 34 TDs). Our offense was geared towards having a powerful running back who could get good yards after contact. We were left with smaller, shiftier backs who rarely ran through tackles. We will return 4 out of 5 linemen, a very athletic yet inexperienced quarterback, two small but fast running backs and three fairly fast receivers with very good size(6', 6'3, 6'4) and pretty good hands. Our offensive coaches are researching offensive systems that can utilize the players we have coming back. Our only returning fullback is young and inexperienced and our running backs are average at best. We ran midline, speed and some triple option also this year, but didn't rep it enough to be truly successful. Our passing game had no rhyme or reason and also hurt us. No one on the offensive staff has more than five years of high school coaching experience, which includes our head coach. We are a very eager to get the program going in the right direction starting with production on offense. I would greatly appreciate your opinions on what offensive system would be a good fit with our personnel. How can we go about installing a new system from the ground up? I appreciate any help you can give us.
