What are opions and/or training regimines out there on running stairs. We have a few guys not not in hoops of wrestling is winter and we are running stairs in the school. Currently we run up 3 stories worth and then back down. We do 10 reps hitting each step and then 10 more reps skipping a step. We also do single leg hops and double leg hops. Also is this better for speed development, power development, or simply for getting into great shape...or a combo of all three?

you are doing the rught sruff... your players will be faster, but you need to judge their progress.....you nd to test how fast they are in the begiinning of your winter program and continue to teswt at least every three to four weeks... you can have them run 100's, 40's, or create a course for them, something that may immulate what actions they may go thru in a football game....
Do you mean in the area of sprints and plyos or strength development? As far as sprints and plyos we do plyo boxes, ground based plyos like vertical jumps, and bounding etc. We do sprints we do different drills that emphasize sprint technique. We also strength train 3x/wk using BFS. We do test our kids once a month on the 40. If they are getting faster (which every who has attended most if not all our sessions to this point has) then we know we are on the right track.
