Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
If you are in 1 back/3 wide and you are running inside zone strong against an over front (they have 6 in the box) how would you deal with the backside DE? would you tell the BST to check steop inside then ride him out? I think the colts do that.
VS AN OVER (3 TECH TO TE SIDE) WITH 6 IN BOX - WOULD MUCH PREFER TO RUN IT TO SPLIT END SIDE (BACK WHERE THEY HAVE a 2I). REMEMBER - I PERSONALLY DO NOT LIKE TO RUN THE INSIDE ZONE TO THE 3 TECH>
I HOPE THE BACKERS DO SHUFFLE WEAK SO I CAN RUN "POWER STRONG" (FIRST STEP ON POWER STRONG = SAME AS FIRST STEP ON INSIDE ZONE WEAK - WE WANT TO DRAW THEM WEAK). THAT IS WHAT PLAY CALLING IS ABOUT - ADJUSTING!!!!!
I'VE TOLD YOU SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE I DO NOT WANT TO RUN THE INSIDE ZONE VS A 3 TECH. I DO NOT NEED TO DO THAT!!!!!
Just a friendly reminder: when your talking to oneback you are talking to a very knowledgeable coach on zone blocking! If he tells you something, such as we do not run the inside zone to a 3 tech, it would serve you well to accept that sage advice because it comes from experience in the trenches. Bill has coached very successfully at the HS, college, and Semi-Pro levels for 40 years. He is a devout student of Joe Gibbs, Russ Grim, Joe Bugel. They are the best in the business, why not emulate them? Coach Campbell is also a devoted coach to the principles of zone blocking. I am in my 41st year of coaching as well, and I always found it to be very worthwhile to be attentive to those who have the crendentials of success in their resume. Again, this is just a friendly reminder in trying to help you.

JOE - IF YOU FIND IT NECESSARY TO BLOCK THE BS/DE ON ANY PLAY STRONG (FROM A 3 WR SET) HERE IS HOW YOU CAN GO ABOUT DOING IT:
SAY YOU ARE IN "DOUBLE RIGHT" (X & H FORM A SLOT TO THE LEFT, WITH H BEING OUT 5 -6 YDS.; TE & Z ARE TO THE RIGHT). YOU CAN HAVE EITHER Z MOTION ACROSS TO HIS LEFT - COMING UNDER CONTROL IN THE WEAK B GAP & THEN BLOCKING BS/DE WITH WHAT THE REDSKINS CALLED THE "SCARE BLOCK". THEY USED THAT "LITTLE FART" GARY CLARK (ABOUT 170 POUNDS) TO BLOCK THE BIGGEST DE'S IN THE BUSINESS BY SIMPLY FALLING DOWN AT HIS FEET!!!!! THE SAME THING CAN BE ACHIEVED BY MOTIOING "H" MOTION INSIDE TO HIS RIGHT - SLOWING DOWN IN B GAP - THEN TURNING BACK ON DE. WE LIKE THE LATTER BECAUSE WE MOTION H ACROSS TO KICK OUT EMLOS ON LOS TO HIS RIGHT ON "POWER" ANYWAY.
I STILL DO DO NOT LIKE THE INSIDE ZONE TO THE STRENGTH OF THE DEFENSE IN A 3 WR SETR BECAUSE (DEPENDING ON THE EXACT ALIGN OF MLB) THEY MAY HAVE 4 STRONG & ONLY 2 WEAK. AS J.C. SAID (ABOVE) YOU DO NOT FORCE THE INSIDE ZONE INTO THE STRONGSIDE OF THE DEFRENSE (IN A 3 WR SET - THE DEFENSE'S STRONGSIDE IS STILL TO THE TE SIDE).
