We run Lombardi's Power Sweep from splitbacks, 1TE and 2 WRs. We sometimes do it from Offset-I, but it's usually splitbacks. Anyone got one or two plays that would compliment this? We're thinking about a counter-trey from splitbacks, but it will be tough to get the timing right and I'm not sure if I like the amount of time it takes to develop.
I run a play that emulates the power sweep in every way, but is designed with BOB action (not pass pro but a running technique) that calls for the RB to head wide to the perimeter just as if he is sweeping while all the while he is reading over pursuit and looking for the crease to cut back against the grain. WE call the play 27/28 BOB and is much akin to the outside zone cutback that is now popular.

Coach the best thing to compliment the packer sweep is the Bootleg passing game fake the sweep and have the QB keep boot with run pass option. another play is the reverse to your TE or WR. Thse three plays along with the Trap and Fullback Slant are pretty much the 60's packers offense

Coaches, Thanks for your responses.
CUI, could you describe QB Trap? And how do you run your quick pitch? Newguy, can you explain the Fullback Slant?
Tiger, we probably wouldn't get to use that play. We're giving a lot of thought to installing a zone running game. If we do, we may as well just use outside zone/cutback rather than bringing in another similar play.
Yo Andy! I just finished the DVD last night. Hit me when you get a moment and we can chat about my observations that I feel can help you. How is the weather over there? Man, the day of the game it looked like you were in one of our hurricanes with the wind and all!

We ran the quick pitch and trap 2 slightly different ways out of split backs in 2 different years. The first year we actually ran a split T, but I think it would all work out the same with split backs. The QB reversed out and pitched to the play side half back. It was pretty much zone blocking with everyone reaching playside. We always pulled the tackle. The FB / back side halfback would fake a dive opposite playside. That year we ran the trap with that dive back taking the ball, then bending it back just like a traditional FB trap. The DT would widen with the toss back, then open up a big hole and was easy to kick out. The next year we were straight split backs. We ran the toss pretty much the same way, but the opposite back would take a toss path the opposite way. I think we actually jab stepped. We then had a "counter" where the QB faked toss one way, then pitched the opposite. For QB trap, we faked toss one way, then the QB pivoted the opposite way and followed the trapping guard's trap block. We still do this out of the I.
