Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Can anyone give me an idea of how to run a power play out of a split back set? We ran a nice option series out of our split back set, including an option pass, and it was a great series for us. This year was the first year we used a split back set and it was very successful. We had no problem running against 8 in the box with our option series. However, we would like to incorporate some power running out of this set......does anyone else do this?
We ran power out of split backs. The play side HB kicked out the end man on the los with a banana route. We doubled down play side on the DT, and the back side guard let up the hole. Not sure if that was what you were looking for.

Run off tackle, power toss and counters. When running off tackle have your play side HB lead up through the hole. You can also have a wing lead through the hole. On the toss have your play side halfback lead and have your play side guard and/or tackle pull and lead.
1. Lombardi Sweep: Pull both guards and lead on the force defender with the playside RB. Backside RB takes the handoff running parallel to the LOS, and hits the seam behind the perimeter blocking. If you use a WB / H-back to playside, you can use a "down-down" scheme with him and the TE to seal the inside pursuit.
2. ISO Strong or Weak: Just like an I-formation Iso, have the near back ISO on the ILB and the far back steps directly for the hole, following his block.
3. Power: Near RB kicks out the DE (or EMOLS). TE combos down withe the playside OT. Backside OG pulls and leads underneath the kickout block. Far RB takes handoff and hits the hole on the outside hip of the leading guard.
4. Inside Belly / Double Dive: Playside HB dives directly ahead, off the outside hip of the guard. Backside RB takes a lateral step and drives off the outside hip of the playside tackle. QB gives or fakes to each and runs a keeper path to the same side.
