I am used to running ISV from the double slot where I have my play side slot seal LB to FS when there is no invert. If running ISV weak out of I (still no invert) where there is no slot to seal inside LB, how will the fast scraping PSLB be dealt with? Will he be the pitch key for QB if he scrapes hard outside?
your PST will veer release to the will backer, you combo the 1 tec to the mike with the PSG and C and the backside G and T and TE base some coaches will comb the 5 or 6 with the te. That seems to be and ideal play against a no invert defense while you have a slot.
Thanks for the reply. What I am looking at it is the Will over the top of the PT's block. Teams will often scheme to jam the tackle with the 5 tech keeping him from getting clean to the Will and send their five down on the FB. Then Will can fast flow over the top to the perimeter. With a slot we were not worried about the backer because the slot would seal him. Without a slot I could see pitching off a fast flow LB but is seems like a tough angle for the QB to read the backer coming inside-out.
Pitching off of the fast flow LB is an essential skill for an option QB. With reps, in individual, group and team periods, a good option QB can master this read.
What you want to be aware of is Cover 2 or Cover 4 to the openside. Versus a Cover 2, when the CB jams the WR on the LOS, it creates a problem for the pitch back who can, at times, run into the back of the WR or into the facemask of the CB. Versus Cover 4, the safety to the open side can force pretty quick with only 1 receiver on his side...again leaving you outnumbered. Try splitting out your TE or going to a 3-wide set to force a cover 3. Now, you can outnumber the defense to the open side (weak side).
