I am watching the Wyoming-UCLA Bowl Game right now, and Bramlett the Wyo QB has a "heel to toe" stance. Is this just his thing or is there merit to this unbalanced stance? It would seem it might get the QB away from the center a little quicker. Looking for some QB guys to fill me in here.

It's probably a comfort thing for the QB. I would prefer he was in a balanced stance, but if has no problem with the footwork on any play from this stance, I would not force him to use my method. I'm guessing he does this to open his hips in the direction of his drop. It would be a definate problem for an option QB, and possibly a Jet Sweep QB, but other offensive systems would probably be able to use this stance.
This is the way they teach their stance at Wyoming. I've had a chance to visit their spring ball and see this first hand. They feel it get's their quarterback away from center a little quicker.
THOSE THAT TEACH THIS TECHNIQUE USE IT FOR THE REASON STATED ABOVE BY COACH 'EM UP. I, PERSONALLY, DON'T USE THIS TECHNIQUE WITH MY QB'S, MUCH PREFERRING TOES INSIDE THE CENTERS FEET, 6" SEPARATION, FLAT BACKED AND BALANCED. I'M SURE MOST OF YOU HAVE SEEN THE STANCE WITH THE QB'S FEET WELL STAGGARD, i HAVE NEVER TAUGHT THAT ONE EITHER.

I used to teach the balance stance myself, but have really come to like the heel - toe staggered stance. I never used to believe it, but I actually think it has some advantages. But like Coach Easton, I don't see the advantage of the extra large stagger.
