Other than sleds, I don't really believe in the other gadgets they have out there. Parachutes, overspeed bungees, strength shoes/jump soles, etc. are not worth the money spent on them, in my opinion. Strength is the forgotten underlying factor here. Too many people right away go with the gadgets without first building a foundation of strength.
I saw a team that used the overspeed bungees religiously, but in the weightroom only performed 2 posterior chain exercises (squat, straight leg dl) and only crunches for the trunk. However, they were trully convinced that the bungees would increase their speed.
The sleds are great for an extra workout, recovery and building up general conditioning (including strongman type conditioning). I don't run with them, only walk.
I wouldn't spend a dime on any of the other things I mentioned above.
I'm sure that all the coaches on here appreciate your passion for the game of football and for helping out on here. I don't think there has been a post with your name on it where I didn't learn something.
We have used the overspeed flex cords and speed chutes etc. I think they have thier place but strength training, basic plyos, and FORM training are much more important with HS kids. The overspeed training stuff only works if you are already running with great form and have good speed already.
