who are the 10 greatest player ever played pro ?
these 10 are the one i think there are
1-Dan Marino over 60 000 yard 420 td
2-Emmith Smith the more yards by a rb ever up to now should i say more ?
3-Jerry Rice the best wr ever
4-Barry Sanders he was unstopable
5-Johnny Unitas the 1st one to made 40000 yards passing (huh hello pittsburg steelers you said he was too stupid to be a qb )
6-Herschel Walker someone said he was ready for the nfl after high school (coach of cowboys i think )
7-Eric Dickerson still hold the record for rushing yard by season and rookie
8-John Elway how could we forget him
9-Joe Montana he was not the type of qb to made the bomb pass but if you wanted the superbowl he was the one you needed
10-Peyton Manning : 3739 yard rookie season(record he also has the rookie record for td and pass attempt ) (also 6 consecutive season with 20 or more td )then 5 consecutive 4000+ yards per year the one who will maybe beat marino record if not injured (a little bit over 28 000 after 6 years )
i know that i don t talk about some other great player but there can be only 10 on that list

Marino was the greatest pure passer the game has ever seen. He has to be at the top.

Chuck Bednaryk LB/OC- the best and last two way player of all time
Don Hutson WR- Sports Ill. named him the greatest athlete of all time. Yes, better then Babe Ruth, Wayne Gretsky, Michael Jordan. He held the record for TD receptions for 50 years.
Just wanted to ad these two.

ANY list that does NOT include: Johnny Unitas, Jim Brown and Dick Butkus should not be considered valid.

In no real order;
Reggie White
Seth Joyner
LT
R. Cunningham
Joe Montana
Steve Young
Jerry Rice
Marino
Most of the other guys listed are before my time, so i cant say they influenced me as much as those above. Been an Eagles fan since the late 80s/ early 90s which is why Cunningham is in there. He may not be in the same league as montana/young/Marino etc but he is a guy that drew me into the game. Being in the UK as well, meant i didnt have the exposure to football on TV as much (1 nfl game per week was shown, and a highlights show during the week).

Growing up in Georgia, I was right in the middle of the Herschel Walker craze. The guy was simply phenomenal. I was a young lad when he was racking up yards at UGA, but the guy is what legends are made of.
Even in the pros he was very successful. He may not have broken the NFL rushing record, but combine his USFL/NFL stats and he has nearly 14,000 yards rushing. Not to mention around 5,000 receiving and even more in kickoffs. Plus, Herschel (non-directly) has a HUGE hand in the Cowboy's super bowl runs in the early 90s after being traded to the Vikes for like 5 players and I think 6 draft picks.
The NFL gives him just over 18,000 all-purpose yds in 12 years of playing. Add the USFL to that and he had like 25,000 yds all purpose.
In my opinion, Herschel is in the top 10.
9 others in no particular order:
Barry Sanders
Walter Payton
Bronko Nagurski (my personal favorite all time player, even though he is way before my time)
Dick Butkus
Fran Tarkenton
John Elway
Reggie White
Ronnie Lott
Joe Montana
Others that could easily be considered:
Lawrence Taylor
Gale Sayers
Jerry Rice
Jim Brown
Anthony Munoz
Chuck Bednarik
Emmit Smith
Deion Sanders
Dan Marino
Jim Jensen (Miami's TE, 3rd team QB, backup kicker and special teams star...cmon now thats good stuff)
