im looking for what numbers you would expect from a senior in your program. this is purely for comparison purposes so im looking for WR/DB type that weigh 170-185. im a little older that a HS senior would be but having only played the sport for 2 years and having the same amount of time in the weight room (how fun it is when you have to teach yourself to lift LOL) i would estimate to be at around the HS snr level in th weightroom.
im looking for numbers for the following lifts (or as many of them as poss):
squat bench power clean deadlift good morning (if you do it)
Cleans: 1.5x Body Weight for 5 repetitions Dead Lift: 2x Body Weight for 5 repetitions Squat: 1.5x Body Weight for 10 repetitions Bench Press: Body Weight for 10 repetitions
out of curiosity are you a big or small school? vert jump???
i am quite suprised i thought you would expect higher. i am 21 so despite my lack of athletic background and football experience. i hit them all apart from the clean number which i take is for normal cleans and not power???
I work at a small, rural school. These numbers are based on what I think an average varsity high school player should be able to do. In other words, these numbers are not goals, they are expectations. I set these numbers at a level where the majority of kids, if they lift regularly, should be able to attain. For kids who exceed the expectation, we have a 1250 lbs. Club.
We do hang cleans. I'm not a big fan of power cleans (or Olympic lifts in general, for that matter). We haven't tested VJ in the past, but I am planning on starting this year.
