Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
How does the tackle on the read side of the zone read option block. Does he try to reach the DT to keep him from pursuit of the dive, or does he seal the DT for the possible option to his side?
We have the OT on the read side block down inside and zone off the b-gap, If no one appears in the b- gap he then continues on to the Backer. The only time we have him block the DE is if we either see on film or during the course of the game that the defense is trying to give the qb a false keep key, by which I mean having the DE backdoor the b-gap by showing chase to the FB but settling and checking b-gap before going on while the backer comes over top to take the QB. If we see this, we have the OT base the DE and then have the QB pitch off of the LB.
