Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Who did you like most? I though Coach Stoops did a great job. Mike Grant in the h.s. session was good. I also liked the Bowling Green offensive presentation. Steve Swhicamp(?) from Rice was also good. Chuck Peterson for Air Force is always good.
I saw Stoops in Denver when he took over the program and he was very prepared, just as he was in Louisville. The Legends disussion involving Frank Kush and John Cooper was very revealing (in the area of discipline). When asked a question about disciplining a great player, Cooper said if the player was good or great, he'd get a second chance, but if the player wasn't contributing, he'd be gone. Kush punched him on the arm when he said it. Kush said he'd cut a potential NFL first rounder, everyone was the same, and he pointed to the case of J.D. Hill as evidence. Just goes to show you, there's more than one way to skin a cat.
Also, Hayden Fry was excellent at the kick-off breakfast. Tom Amstutz of Toledo only spoke for 20 minutes, but gave a concrete approach to team leadership and a specific book (he had read about young, skinny samarai warrior) that was the basis of their leadership theme. Very relevant and usable at all levels.
"When we think we know it all, it's time to get out of the game."
I also like Amstutz's talk. I thought Hayden Fry was alright, he did better at the legends 2 years ago in New Orleans. Bottom line, the AFCA convention is very motivating and everyone should go at least once.
