Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
I am in the process of watching our games from the 2004 season to see what happened to us defensively that we need to work on in the spring and fall camp. I know the obvious things like technique, alignment, assignment, etc., but I want to get into the statistical part of the games we played.
So far I have charted the series, D&D, LOS, Hash, whether it was a inside, off tackle, outside run, or pass and the results of each play. What parameters do you DC's or head coaches set for your defensive production? Number of big plays, what happened after sudden change, etc. If any of you have a system for self-evaluation in the offseason, I would love to hear from you.
I know this is a question directed at defensive coaches. However, we use a system, on the offensive side, that has been a great indicator of success for us.
Our goals are: 1. 1st DOWN EFFICIENCY (average 5 yards on 1st down) 2. RED ZONE EFFICIENCY (score TD on 75% of red zone possessions) 3. EXPLOSIOINS (have 8 plays of 12+ yards) 4. NO TURNOVERS
We adapted this from Brian Billick and his book "Developing an Offensive Game Plan." We have found that when we reach all 4 goals, we are unbeaten over the last three years. I would think that you could tailor such goals to the defensive side of the ball.
