Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
In your underneath coverage, how do you coach the drops - spot drop ? If you do spot drop, what are your landmarks (high school field) ? If you pattern read, how do you teach it ? *I saw recently in a playbook where the flat defender was assigned to take the widest of the routes by the numbers 1 & 2 receivers (& the curl defender take the innermost route). Do you think this is a good way to do it ?
That's how we teach it. Our flat players, once they read pass, are taught to take a collision course to #1 with their head on a swivel with the QB. The curl player is going to take a collision course to #2, and it he's not there maybe wider to take away the curl by #1. We don't give landmarks besides them knowing they have middle 1/4 on their side, etc. BUT we also don't play a lot of zone any more.
